CDC cable distribution cabinet

client: ABB, 2002

CDC 2000 cable distribution cabinet designed by L2 for ABBThe CDC 2000 cable distribution cabinet is used to connect  and distribute power lines as well as TV cable wires and telephone cables .

The housing is produced in polycarbonate plastic and is extremely robust. The unofficial strength test involves a bottle of vodka and a baseball bat. The tester whacks the daylights out of the cabinet after embibing in a bottle of vodka. A full-face motorcycle helmet is used during testing as an important safety consideration. The polycarbonate front is not only virtually indestructable, because of the spring-back it is also potentially dangerous for an alchoholic crazed baseball bat weilding vandal.

One of the official tests was performed by the military at a firing range. The cabinet survived but blew a hole in the wall behind it!

For the unbelievers, L2DESIGN designed for ABB an alternative version of the CDC with a metal front.
